The Department of Physical Education & Sports at Don Bosco Institute of Management Studies & Computer Applications (DBIMSCA) is committed to promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and the holistic development of students. The department encourages active participation in indoor and outdoor sports, athletics, and recreational activities to enhance physical and mental well-being. Through sports competitions, training programmes, and fitness initiatives, the department strives to develop leadership qualities, self-confidence, resilience, and a spirit of healthy competition. Sports Highlights 2025–26
The Department of Physical Education at Don Bosco Institute of Management Studies and Computer Applications (DBIMSCA), Kumbalgodu, Bengaluru, had an exceptional year, with students achieving remarkable success in various intercollegiate and university-level sports competitions.
The DBIMSCA Tug of War Team emerged as Champions in the Bangalore University Intercollegiate Tug of War Tournament held at Government First Grade College (GFGC), Channapatna. The Boys’ Volleyball Team also secured the Championship Title in “GESTIONE 2026,” an Intercollegiate Sports Fest organized by RNSMBA, Bengaluru.
Adding to these accomplishments, DBIMSCA students won Championship Titles in Tug of War and Volleyball at sports fests organized by APS College, KLE College, T. John College, and New Horizon College of Engineering, bringing great laurels to the institution.
The Department successfully organized SPOORTHI 2026, the Annual Sports Meet of the college, providing students with a platform to demonstrate their athletic abilities, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
In another significant achievement, the student-athletes of DBIMSCA earned selection to represent Bangalore University in the All India Inter-University National Baseball Championship, hosted by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Maharashtra. This accomplishment reflects the high standard of sports excellence maintained by the institution and highlights the talent and dedication of its student-athletes.

BBA Student Mr. Nirup Achieves Remarkable Success in Pickleball Tournaments
Mr. Nirup, a 2nd Semester BBA student, has brought great pride to the institution by achieving outstanding success in several pickleball tournaments held at different levels.
He won the Silver Medal in the Singles Pickleball event at the WPC Tournament, along with a cash prize of ₹10,000. Adding to this achievement, he also secured the Gold Medal in the Pickleball Drink and Drive Tournament, receiving another ₹10,000 cash prize.
Continuing his impressive performance, Mr. Nirup won a Silver Medal in the Pickleball Tournament held in Hyderabad. In the same series of competitions, he also secured 4th place with a cash prize of ₹4,000.
Further demonstrating his sporting excellence, Mr. Nirup earned Silver Medals in both the Singles and Doubles categories at the Pickleball Tournament held in Hyderabad.
Spoorthi 2026 – Annual Sports Meet
The Department of Physical Education, DBIMSCA, successfully organized SPOORTHI 2026, the Annual Sports Meet, on 22nd and 23rd April 2026 at the DBIMSCA Sports Ground. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sundar Raj Urs, Former Registrar of Bangalore North University, along with Dr. Pandurangappa H., Principal of DBIMSCA.
The sports meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from students in a variety of events, including Cricket, Volleyball, Throw Ball, 200m Running, Shot Put, Discus Throw, and 4×100m Relay. The competition provided students with an excellent platform to showcase their athletic abilities, sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership skills.
SPOORTHI 2026 was a grand success, promoting physical fitness, team spirit, confidence, and holistic student development while strengthening the values of discipline, cooperation, and sportsmanship among students.
